چکیده

SOIL physical properties are important for plant growth, but it is necessary to separate factors that affect plant growth directly from those that affect it indirectly.Water, oxygen, temperature, and mechanical resistance are interrelated factors that affect plant growth directly. An appropriate soil-water-air environment is essential for healthy plant growth. Letey (1985) introduced a nonlimiting water range (NLWR) concept, defined as the range of soil-water content in which water, oxygen, and mechanical resistance do not limit plant growth. Generally, field capacity and wilting point are considered to be the upper and lower limits of available soil-water. The upper and lower limits of NLWR can be reduced by poor aeration at the field capacity or high mechanical resistance at the wilting point in some soils (Letey, 1985). A soil with a high value for TECHNICAL ARTICLES

Checking the Sensitivity of Solute Advection- Dispersion Model to Reaction Coefficients and River Hydraulic Properties in the Process of Dissolved Oxygen Simulation

Nowadays, environmental pollutions especially water pollution is increasingly developing. One of the problems of entering the pollutants to rivers is reduction in the concentration of river dissolved oxygen. In order to manage the water resources, amount of dissolved oxygen should be predicted. This study presents a novel equation for simulating the concentration of river dissolved oxygen by ad...

Oxygen Transport to Plant Roots: Modeling for Physical Understanding of Soil Aeration

Although there appears to be some evidence to suggest that the concentration of CO2 in the soil may have A model that couples the diffusion of O2 to plant roots at the an effect on plant growth, the major effect of poor microscale to diffusion of O2 through the soil at the macroscale is derived. The solution is complex, but if the length scales (Zr and Zm; aeration on plant growth is the lack o...

Bioremediation of gasoil by indigenous bacterial strains

Petroleum refining industries produce large amounts of toxic effluents, causing environmental pollution. Iran is an oil-rich country that encounters oil pollution in its soil and water. Bioremediation of these pollutants is an appropriate solution to tackle them, compared to physical and chemical remediation methods. There are some factors that increase the rate of biodegradation; therefore, th...

Effects of oxygen concentration on microbial growth in aerated palm oil mill effluent using oxygen enriched air membrane system

Aeration is one of the most important factors in biological wastewater treatment process. Through aeration, oxygen is supplied to the bacteria to allow their respiration to proceed rapidly and satisfy the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). This study was carried out to determine the biological growth in aerated palm oil mill effluent (POME) when subjected to aeration using air of different oxygen...
